Sukpatch “Out the Window” Music Video

The music video for the song "Out the Window" from the Sukpatch album "23" was a collaboration between band founders Chris Heidman and Steve Cruze, and Creative Director Greg Shultz of Design and Animation house Gasket Studios.  Chris and Steve came up with the concept of using symbols and icons from the world of conspiracy theory, the occult and the dollar bill as a way to comment on contemporary global politics. The album was released in the spring of 2006 and the video played on MTV2 in the UK and Europe.

Greg and his team at Gasket came on board to make the music video into a journey through a shadowy secret American history as told by a trip through the dollar bill.  Chris Heidman co-directed the video with Greg Shultz. They broke the dollar bill apart in 3D and created a fantastical dollar bill world.  The main character of the owl leads us through the environment, causing destruction wherever he goes.  The owl was constructed entirely of serifs from the bill.  The Gasket team also combed the public domain stock footage libraries and came up with wonderful footage including the atom bomb tests, old political cartoons and the shot of the man jumping out the window (which they originally thought they might have to shoot.)  The video story evolved as they found footage.  The footage was then treated with the print patterns found on the dollar bill.  Many shots were composited with the footage, including the owl in the atom bomb and the man jumping out of the white house on the bill.
