Gasket Studios frequently works with Martin Williams and their edit partners to provide visual effects and animation elements for their Payless Shoesource commercials.
For the "Fire Breather" shot above, from their Fall 2008 campaign, Gasket created the Payless logo on the ground in 3D, then animated a fire flicker pass that illuminates the sign in sync with the fire. The elements were composited during the online edit.
Gasket created an animated pink paper airplane that flies through multiple cityscapes, also from the Fall 2008 campaign. The Gasket team tracked each shot, modeled the airplane, created color and lighting maps, and animated the plane through each scene. Gasket also created the wall treatment on the side of a brick building in the middle of the spot. The layered elements were composited during the online edit.
For this summer Payless Kids spot, Gasket created 3D animated playground balls that held the shoe logos, then bounced off screen as a transition to the final logo. The balls needed to integrate with other balls and lighting from the spot.
