10/01/10 – What happens when you drop your old, used technology into Best Buy's recycling kiosks? The Gasket team set out to find the answer and came back with a remarkable discovery: They go to a magical utopia where old tech is greeted with open arms.
Best Buy wanted to focus the consumer's attention to the Best Buy product recycling program. The program allowed customers to recycled in-store, in-home and at kiosks. Gasket created an exciting and fun factory that showed the energy and the enthusiasm Best Buy has towards recycling. As the old, used electronics travel through the factory the color saturation of animation intensifies. The old tech is on it's way to becoming something new.

As part of this project we also created lovable characters that would carry the viewer (and the old electronics) through the spot and and be a brand ambassador for Best Buy recycling. We consciously made our characters with angled heads and bodies, that are in the same shape as the Best Buy store 'wedge.'
In the end, we settled on some more human-like qualities for our characters, with hard-working and curious attitudes. These guys and girls get the recycling job done!
