Gasket’s very first project after opening it’s doors in May of 2005, the sponsor show open for the AICP Show in Minneapolis, MN, combined stop-motion and digital animation to recreate a humorous look at a creative’s all-nighter. The AICP Show honors the best commercial work from the previous year.
"This year’s opening was the best we’ve ever had," says Kirk Hokanson, President of the AICP Minnesota chapter and New Technology Chair. "It was inspired and entertaining and done with such finesse."
"We definitely challenged ourselves with the approach based on the timeframe, but it was worth it," says Shultz, who only had 2 weeks for production. "Developing the concept from the ground up, and infusing it with humor and fun – we were thrilled to create the AICP Sponsor Open, even if we pulled all-nighters like the project’s inspiration!"
The AICP Sponsor Open was shot on a digital still camera and captured and animated at 2K resolution. The digital animation and finish were executed via Maya and Flame.

Oh how we love post-it notes. However would we do storyboards without them? They really enhance the "all nighter" theme, don’t you think?

Production photos from the stop motion shoot. The garden gnome was helping, especially at 3am.
